Resolution on Public Comment 5/9/2023

Public comment will be kept on the video record!

This resolution was in response to a motion before the Brevard County Commissioners to move Public Comment (specifically comments not tied to motions) to after the board reports and to turn off the SCGTV cameras immediately after the board reports.

Chair Nathan Slusher presented the resolution with alternate solutions and Mari Peele presented reasons for why this motion was not only against public interest but procedurally in conflict with the board’s current rules.

After debate, the motion was amended to move the timing of the public comment but to keep the cameras on. This is a huge success! Not only does the public stay informed about what is brought before the board but they now have the option to comment on board reports because of the timing.
